Molding Team Lead

FLSA Status: Hourly
OVERVIEW:
The Molding Team Lead oversees daily molding operations within the Foundry, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards are consistently achieved while leading and supporting the molding team. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and hands-on involvement in workflow coordination, equipment oversight, and employee development.
As the Molding Team Lead, you will actively support and lead the Molding Department to achieve production goals while maintaining quality standards throughout all stages of the molding process. This includes managing workflow, proactively addressing issues that may impact production, communicating with leadership, inspecting molds and components for defects, ensuring employees remain productive and compliant with procedures, and utilizing SAP to complete administrative and production-related tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote safety as the highest priority in all daily activities
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Support departmental production goals and assist in achieving operational targets
- Support all Foundry and Molding leadership initiatives as directed
- Lead, instruct, and support Molding team members to ensure proper completion of work assignments
- Monitor molding operations to ensure quality standards and production schedules are maintained
- Inspect molds, patterns, and related components for defects or quality concerns
- Maintain and promote good housekeeping practices throughout the Molding Department
- Ensure compliance with GIW procedures, work instructions, and process standards
- Monitor equipment condition and communicate maintenance or repair needs to leadership as necessary
- Assist in coordinating workflow and manpower to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
- Utilize SAP and other systems to complete production reporting and administrative tasks
- Consistently monitor employee performance, productivity, and adherence to safety and quality standards throughout the shift
- Assist with training and development of new and existing employees within the department
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within molding operations
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Must be willing to work any shift as business needs require
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated leadership and accountability
- Strong communication and team-building skills
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot molding equipment and related foundry machinery
- Ability to train and mentor employees on molding processes and equipment operation
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production documents, and quality standards
- Understanding of required production and quality documentation and its importance
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach to work
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Previous foundry or heavy manufacturing experience preferred
- SAP or ERP system experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently:
- Standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, and stooping
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 lbs.
- Working in hot, dusty, and industrial foundry environments
Occasionally:
- Overhead work
- Climbing ladders or stairs
- Driving forklifts
- Operating cranes
