Company Overview
Wirco Inc. has been supplying high quality heat treat furnace replacement parts and fixtures since 1978. In 2005 Wirco purchased the foundry division formerly known as Alloy Engineering & Casting Co. Alloy, established in 1941 in Champaign Illinois, is well known throughout the industry for quality castings. Our Champaign foundry uses arc and induction furnaces in both our static and centrifugal casting operation. We maintain a staff of process and 3D modeling engineers who work closely with foundry personnel to ensure our high quality for custom design and function.
Company History
Founded in 1969 in Kendallville, Indiana, Wirco, Inc., was originally a commercial heat treating operation. The founders were business associates all involved in some way with the heat treating industry. Joe Wright, the ‘W’ in Wirco, Inc., was the operations man. In 1977 Joe bought out his partners. Shortly after the purchase, Joe was killed tragically in a small aircraft accident. The company’s heat treat assets were sold in 1978 and the surviving enterprise was formed. The new company was built around a new product, one for which the need was seen during the heat treat years. A new kind of heat-treat basket was developed incorporating a superior welding technology for the application. A patent was obtained and in a few short years this product became the standard of the industry. In 1997 a new generation of this basket was introduced, using state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. Imperfections in the original design were overcome with innovative engineering. This new product has kept Wirco, Inc. at the forefront of our industry and is indicative of our commitment to continued product improvement and development.
A full service fabrication company has grown from this beginning. In our continuing effort to know our customers’ needs and meet them we have added to our capability the premier Alloy casting company in the industry Alloy Engineering and Casting Co is now a Wirco Company.
