Foundry Inventory Specialist

OVERVIEW:
To assist in the management of foundry inventories (raw materials and supplies) to ensure that GIW employees have access to needed materials, inventory balances remain accurate, obsolete and slow-moving inventory is limited, and all foundry processes have the correct supplies to complete the production schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands KSB GIW, Inc. products, services, material and inventory classifications, applications, valuations, and business transactions from receiving, usage, shipment, and obsolescence of goods.
- Remains current with the latest inventory management and material handling tools, technology, and procedures.
- Monitors inventory levels for Grovetown & Thomson foundries and requests changes as needed by collaborating with procurement and inventory control.
- Responsible for all Grovetown & Thomson raw material reporting, investigating/analyzing the data and suggesting changes to improve overall inventory health.
- Assists in the development and implementation of Supply Chain / Inventory Management initiatives that support overall company objectives.
- Identifies potential areas for inventory discrepancies and reports to Senior Foundry Operations Manager & Inventory Control Manager.
- Leads the dispositions of excess foundry inventory supplies (ie. Metals) such as building plans to use them, transferring to another location for use, or selling excesses to scrap material suppliers.
- Responsible for writing, keeping and updating foundry inventory related work instructions.
- Daily responsibility of ensuring heat sheets are updated and any discrepancies are thoroughly investigated.
- Develops and implements a flask inventory management system, including a unique identifier for each flask, regular cycle counts, and collaborating with maintenance to repair any flasks that are not fit for use.
- Responsible for maintaining SAP Material Master for foundry related supplies.
- Assists in weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly WIP audits for Grovetown and Thomson.
- Works closely with purchasing department for any inventory related concerns.
- Collaborates closely with the Inventory Control Manager and assists in conducting weekly/monthly inventory cycle counts, evaluates cycle count results, and develops action plans to improve inventory accuracy and communicates those to stakeholders.
- Assists in Planning and coordinating of the annual physical inventory count.
- Manages a complete end to end process for receiving, transferring, and usage of all metals for foundry pouring operations in Grovetown and Thomson.
- Demonstrates knowledge on all aspects of SAP directly related to developing and managing inventory levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or four (4) years related foundry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years plus of stable work history in a heavy industrial environment.
- Knowledge of SAP P14, particularly PP, WM and IM
- Production planning and inventory control knowledge
- Proven problem-solving skills and abilities
- Effective communication
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
- Must be able to strive in a fast paced, demanding environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Primarily desk-type duty, but there are occasions that will require frequent walking and standing in a manufacturing environment.
